For years, families in the Ganiga samaja have used generic matrimonial apps
that treat community as a checkbox — if it's supported at all. Sub-caste
filters were vague or missing. Gotra was ignored. Mane-devaru wasn't even a
field. And the platforms were built for volume, not values.
Ganiga Matrimony was born from conversations at kalyana mantapas, family
gatherings, and long-distance calls with cousins who couldn't find profiles
that matched what their families actually looked for. If none of the big apps
were going to build for us, we would build for ourselves.
Today, we're a small team of samaja members, engineers, and community elders
working to make sure every match honours who we are — not just as
individuals, but as a community with a history worth preserving.
